Terms of Service
Last updated:
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Roostly (the "Service"), operated by Roostly, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Who can use Roostly
You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the European Economic Area) to create an account. A parent or guardian may add a managed child profile for a household member under 18. A managed child profile cannot sign in, and the household's parents or guardians keep control of it.
If you create a profile for, invite, or manage a younger family member, you confirm that you have the legal authority to do so and are responsible for that member's use of Roostly.
3. Family spaces and administrators
The person who creates or administers a family space is responsible for the space, the people invited to it, and invited members' use of Roostly within that space. Keep household membership, roles, permissions, and sharing settings accurate so information is shared only with the people you choose.
Parents, guardians, and family administrators are responsible for supervising younger members and removing access when a household member should no longer be part of a family space.
4. What Roostly does
Roostly provides a private shared space for families: calendars, lists, chores, rooms, and attached files. Optional integrations let you sync data with supported calendar providers, such as Google Calendar. Features change over time as we improve the Service.
Google integrations are optional, use only the scopes described in our Privacy Policy, and can be disconnected from Settings → Integrations after signing in.
Roostly is a household organisation tool. It is not an emergency service, medical device, childcare safety system, financial adviser, or legal adviser. Keep your own backups and use appropriate emergency, medical, financial, or legal services when needed.
5. Your account and content
You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity on your account. Notify us immediately if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
You own the content you add to Roostly. You give Roostly the limited permission needed to host, back up, process, format, transmit, display, sync, and share your content inside the family spaces, settings, and integrations you choose. We do not use your family content for advertising.
We may remove or restrict content, accounts, or family spaces when we reasonably believe they violate these Terms, the law, safety, privacy, or someone else's rights. Our use of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy .
6. Roostly property and feedback
Roostly, including the app, design, branding, code, workflows, documentation, and service materials, remains the property of Roostly or its licensors. These Terms do not give you ownership of Roostly's intellectual property.
If you send ideas, suggestions, or feedback, you allow us to use them to improve Roostly without obligation or compensation to you.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Roostly for anything illegal, abusive, harassing, hateful, exploitative, or harmful to children;
- upload content you do not have the right to share, or violate another person's privacy, publicity, intellectual-property, or other rights;
- impersonate another person, misrepresent your authority, or invite people to a family space under false pretenses;
- attempt to access data belonging to another family or user, or bypass rate limits, security measures, or access controls;
- upload malware, scrape, crawl, reverse engineer, overload, disrupt, or use automated systems to abuse the Service;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission;
- use Roostly or connected integrations in a way that violates third-party provider terms or policies.
8. Third-party services, integrations, and app stores
Optional integrations, authentication providers, hosting, email, security, diagnostics, and anti-abuse services are provided by third parties such as Google, Apple, Paddle, Cloudflare, Laravel Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Resend, and Sentry. Their services may have their own terms, privacy policies, outages, limits, fees, or account decisions.
You are responsible for complying with any additional Google, Apple, or other provider terms that apply to the integrations you choose. Roostly does not control third-party services, but we will work to keep Roostly's integration behavior consistent with our Privacy Policy and the permissions you grant.
9. Paid subscriptions and billing
Paid Roostly subscriptions are managed by family owners. Owners start hosted Paddle Checkout from Roostly and can use the Paddle Customer Portal, when available, to manage payment methods, invoices, subscription changes, and cancellation. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the merchant of record for all our orders, handles payment, tax, and refund requests, and processes payment method details under its own buyer terms; Roostly does not store full card or bank account numbers.
Subscription prices, billing intervals, trial periods, taxes, invoices, and receipt details are shown in Checkout, the Customer Portal, or Roostly billing settings where applicable. Paddle may calculate, collect, and display tax IDs, exemptions, rates, invoice line items, invoice totals, and invoice status.
Refunds follow Paddle's Refund Policy, including the statutory right of consumers in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom to withdraw within 14 days where it applies. Paddle may also consider refund requests made within 14 days of a purchase. Otherwise, unless required by law, stated in a separate written offer, or described below for deleting your account immediately, fees already paid are non-refundable.
Roostly uses verified Paddle subscription state as the source of truth for paid access. Checkout success and cancel return pages are informational and do not themselves grant access. Only verified provider events or authenticated provider reconciliation change paid access. If a subscription is incomplete, unpaid, past due, canceled, or otherwise no longer in an active trial, active subscription, or grace period, Roostly may restrict paid features until billing is resolved.
Cancellation timing depends on the subscription state and Customer Portal options. If cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period or trial, paid access may continue until that period ends. If cancellation, failed payment, or expiration takes effect immediately, paid access may stop immediately. Subscription changes, cancellations, refunds, disputes, and payment-method updates are handled through Paddle flows where available and remain subject to applicable law.
Lifetime-free grants require provider-confirmed termination of subscriptions and clearance of open checkout transactions before access is granted. Paddle manages any final invoice, credit, refund, or other financial outcome through its billing records. For lifetime-free grants, Roostly does not calculate prorated refund amounts or issue app-managed refunds.
When you delete your account, you choose how a paid subscription ends. If deletion waits for the end of the current billing period, renewal is canceled and no refund is due. If you delete your account immediately, Roostly cancels the subscription right away and asks Paddle to refund the unused part of the current billing period, in proportion to the time left. Paddle reviews each refund request before any amount is paid, and the refund goes to the original payment method.
10. Availability, beta features, and changes
Roostly is provided "as is" and "as available". We aim for high uptime but do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or permanent. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where feasible.
Beta, preview, experimental, or future features may change, break, disappear, or never launch. Your use of Roostly is not contingent on any future functionality or roadmap item.
11. Termination and data export
You may delete your account at any time from your account page. We may suspend or terminate an account or family space that violates these Terms or creates abuse, security, legal, safety, privacy, or operational risk. Founder pricing stays with the household after cancellation while that household exists. If account deletion permanently deletes the household, the founder pricing lock is removed and returning later uses then-current pricing.
Where feasible, we will provide notice and a reasonable opportunity to export your content before termination or discontinuing a material feature, unless doing so would be unsafe, unlawful, impractical, or harmful to Roostly, another user, or a third party. On termination, your personal data is removed as described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Disclaimer and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Roostly is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Where permitted by law, our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you have paid us (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties or liability limits to be excluded. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable consumer law.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States , without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice before they take effect where feasible. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
